Tahir Foundation and Ministry of Labor collaborates to provide education and training 5000 candidate of Indonesian worker, especially for nurse and elderly care.
The memorandum of agreement has signed by the chairman of Tahir Foundation, Dato’ Sri Prof. Dr. Tahir, MBA, and Ministry of Labor of Indonesian Republic, Hanif Dhakiri at Ministry of Labor hall, Thursday – February 08 2018.
In his greetings, Dato’ Sri Prof. Dr. Tahir, M.B.A. declares that he is called for seeing so many Indonesian people work abroad without professional skill, so most of them only work in the non-formal sector, for example as a housemaid. While visiting some countries, he saw a foreign worker from Phillippine and India as well as China able to get a more formal job.
“My experience while visiting neighbor countries, mostly hospitals, the employed workers are from Philippine, China, and India as nurse and doctor helper, while Indonesian workers are only employed as an unskilled housemaid. This is heartbreaking.” He said.
Mr. Hanif Dhakiri also adds that he addresses the collaboration of training for the candidate of Indonesian worker abroad. The Ministry of labor prepares 3 training centers (BLK) which are Semarang (Central Java), Surabaya (East Java), and Lembang-Bandung (West Java). Besides, this training also aims to reduce the rate of unemployment in Indonesia.
Department of Job Vacancy Extension and Placement Construction, Maruli Apul Hasiloan in his time declares, “The training of 5000 candidates of Indonesian worker is a pilot project and will be done in phases. It is expected to finish in 2018.”
Dato’ Sri Prof. Dr. Tahir.MBA hopes that in the next five years, there will be no more Indonesian people who work as housemaid abroad and become professional workers in the field instead.
